Dr. McGuire is a strong advocate of children and adolescents. She believes that all children and adolescents deserve respect, acceptance and love.
She is aware, however, that there are many challenges that children and adolescents experience which impact their ability to reciprocate these rights to others.
Dr. McGuire is a strong believer that the more adults understand about how children are born with a temperament profile that influences how adults interact with them, the greater the ability to of adults to help the children interact positively.
These repeated interactions then mold or develop a child's personality. By understanding and being proactive, rather than negatively reactive, the greater the likelihood of a positive outcome for that child's personality.
When the child also has a developmental, learning, or behavioral problem, this further threatens the positive relationship which should develop between children/adolescents and adults. This is where training for adults will aide in a more positive outcome
Dr. McGuire speaks around the country between her work with Kirkwood Community College and PESI, Inc. She is also available for speaking engagements on topics related to developmental and behavioral pediatrics, which including but not limited to the autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, behavioral problems of children and adolescents, pediatric psychopharmacology, and temperament.
